In a 155 square meter maisonette-type residence, Yumiko Singer, a floral designer, and her American husband live in a condominium in the heart of the city. In the LDK, where the residents' sense of beauty came to fruition, we asked them about their perspective on interior design and their thoughts on Toyo Kitchen Style's Zero flow kitchen ® "iNO V-LAND".
To take advantage of solid and unique forms
The house we lived in until last year in Shirokanedai was a large house with about 10 rooms, but since all of our children are grown and we are now just a couple, and since we spend weekends at our vacation home on Lake Yamanaka, we decided to downsize our Tokyo life and moved to this apartment last year," she said.
At that time, Yumiko Singer says she was looking for a modern image in her new home.
My old house had a classic, stately atmosphere, so I wanted to change it up this time," she says. Besides, this place is like a station for enjoying work and socializing. We chose the things we needed for Tokyo living and thought about how to make the most of them, and the result is a house centered around the kitchen," he says.
The star of the LDK, which leads from the entrance, is the ultimate Zero flow kitchen ® "iNO V-LAND" with its 135-degree angle. To make the most of its unique form, a bold renovation was undertaken prior to occupancy.
The shoe boxes between the entryway and kitchen were removed and replaced with glass partitions, and two walls in the kitchen were removed to make it more open and united with gray wallpaper. The edgy kitchen blends well with the space.
iNO V-LAND," which shortens the cooking time.
Singer says the iNO V-LAND is not only well designed, but also easy to use.
In the large kitchen I had in my old house, I had to go this way and that while cooking," he says. But with this kitchen, I can stand in the center of the V and just turn around to peel vegetables or boil them on the stove," he says.
As for the "PARALLELO Sink," which simplifies the cooking processes of washing, cutting, and serving in the sink, "The multi-plate that can also drain water and the wooden cutting board are both slide-outs, so multiple people can work simultaneously from both inside and outside the kitchen. For example, in our house, when my husband is stir-frying inside the kitchen, I can slide the wooden cutting board toward me and chop parsley to sprinkle on top of the food. It's very convenient.
Once a month, Singer hosts a home party where she entertains guests with home-cooked food. At these parties, PARALLELO Sink is a big hit with the guests.

High design quality and a wide range of options
By the way, how did Mr. Singer, who used to use an overseas-made kitchen, come across iNO V-LAND?
I knew about Toyo Kitchen Style through the Internet, but the first time I actually saw their products was a few years ago when I visited the Tokyo showroom to buy stools from Kartell. At that time, when I saw the size and finish of the kitchen, I felt something that Japanese products did not have. I was particularly attracted to the high quality of design and the wide range of choices. I was attracted to the beautiful stainless steel finish and the fact that I could customize it to my liking, like a puzzle, for example by replacing the dishwasher with a built-in oven. I was living in a house at the time, but if I ever move to a condominium in the future, I would definitely want to use it," he said.
Last year, when he decided to move to a condominium, he visited the showroom again. At that time, Singer was also attracted to two contrasting products: the iNO MEGA KITCHEN, which has a maximum length of 6.5 meters, and the compact BAY CUBE, which is available at Cube. "With a large kitchen, you can eliminate the dining table," Singer said.
I wanted to eliminate the dining table in the larger kitchen, and enjoy the extra space around it in the compact kitchen," says Singer. In the end, we chose iNO V-LAND because of its balance with the space, and it was fun to think about the possibilities of the space from the kitchen.

The distinctly uneven texture does not show scratches. Built-in dishwasher.
Because it's an open kitchen, you have to pay attention to the background.
Finally, let's talk about storage. In an open kitchen, it is important to strike a balance between areas to be shown and areas not to be shown. In this respect, the Singer residence has built-in cabinets in the back of the kitchen, in which dishes, cutlery, cooking appliances, etc. are placed.
We gave up on a built-in oven because we put a dishwasher in the kitchen, so we put a compact tabletop model in a built-in cabinet along with a pot, coffee maker, and other appliances. Next to it is a wine cellar, but I didn't want to leave it bare, so I put it in a cabinet of the same size as the wine cellar," he says.
The color of the cabinet, which was ordered from a construction company he knows well, is black. The sliding doors on the front hide the food stock and other items that he didn't want to show. "If I put doors on everything, the black background behind the kitchen would look oppressive," says Singer, "so I dared to create areas that would be visible.
I think the upper cabinets would have provided more storage capacity if they had shelves, but I thought the vertical lines would accentuate the overall space, so I dared to eliminate the shelves and show them as part of the design.
The kitchen is the star of the show, and this attention to detail makes it stand out even more beautifully.
